UPDATE: A Trenton man driving a stolen van led State Police on a nearly 18-mile chase on eastbound Route 80 this morning that began in Saddle Brook and ended in Ridgefield Park, where he was forced to surrender 10 minutes later, authorities told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Troopers who got the 11:40 a.m. call of the van stolen out of Denville spotted it near Exit 56 at 11:43 a.m. thanks to a GPS device, NJSP Sgt. Jeff Flynn said.

“They tried to stop it with headlights and sirens, but it continued on,” Flynn said.

The driver, 27-year-old Raymond Rossi, exited at Exit 67, where local police hemmed him in on 2nd Street in Ridgefield Park after the van struck two other vehicles, responders said.

He was then was taken to the NJSP Totowa barracks for processing, Flynn said.

Rossi was being held on $250,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with eluding, theft and receiving stolen property.
