Ridgefield Park Sisters Honored For Uniting Village Moms

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- Two sisters from Ridgefield Park who created a local Facebook page for village moms got a surprise from Mayor George Fosdick.

After Valerie Ferraro wrote to village officials to boast of what a great job Elaine Essig Marin and Joyce Essig-Bachtler were doing with the "Ridgefield Park Moms" page, the wheels started turning.

Arranged by group members, Fosdick showed up at the AMC Starplex, where the group was having a Friday movie night.

Facebook Live captured the moment as Fosdick presented a proclamation to the sisters before 134 women attending "A Bad Moms Christmas."

The mayor commended the Essig sisters for the job they're doing in bringing people together -- more than 900 members and growing -- keeping them informed and making a positive difference in the community.

"[A]rea print media pay scant attention to Village organizations and activities," but "Ridgefield Park Moms" has filled the void, promoting activities and obtaining new members, the proclamation says.

The proclamation -- one for each sister -- encourage the Essigs "to continue their fine efforts in making our Village a better home for all."
