BERGENFIELD, N.J. — The Bergenfield Department of Health will launch the 2016 Mayor's Healthy Living Challenge with a countywide kick-off event on April 3.
The Mayor's Challenge, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., is part of the Bergen County Community Health Improvement Program. Those who sign up for the free 8-week program will come in for weekly weigh-ins at their local health department and receive health and fitness guidance from professionals, as well as prizes for meeting their goals.
The program also includes free workshops, exercise classes and fitness trials that vary by town.
Some of the participating municipalities include Bergenfield, Cliffside Park, Oradell, Paramus, Fair Lawn and Ridgewood.
"People have nothing to lose by participating in this program," said Patricia August, a nurse with Bergenfield Health Department. "It is only reinforcing healthy choices and encouraging folks to live a healthier and happier life."
