The stroll, presented by the Hasbrouck Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Hasbrouck Heights Library, will fill the Boulevard from the circle to Route 46 with free, family-friendly activities on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The window contest, sponsored by Bill O’Shea’s Florist & Gifts, involves Hasbrouck Heights students in third through fifth grades.
Budding artists paint the storefront windows lining the Boulevard, which are judged by students at Hasbrouck Heights High School and prizes. Prizes are awarded for the best windows.
“This is a great opportunity for them to be creative and get them outside,” said Jeanette DeGennaro, as her fifth grade daughter, Claudia, and her friend Sophie D’Innocenzi were painting.
“We can pick what we want to paint, it just has to be Halloween-themed. I had a million sketches before I chose this one,” said D’Innocenzi, who was painting a pumpkin with a bear sticking out of it. This is her third year participating in the contest.
Businesses enjoy the attention as well.
"Last year I had a second and first place winner on my store,” said Hamid Tossi, owner of H&L Printing.
