Toms River Woman Charged In Fatal DWI Crash, Pinned Man Emptying Car Trunk: Prosecutor A 31-year-old woman from Ocean County has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal DWI crash that killed a man who was emptying the trunk of his car, authorities said. Her blood-alcohol level was four times the state limit to legally drive, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Ashley Beams, of Toms River Township, was charged on Wednesday, Feb. 16 with aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide, Billhimer said. Pedestrian Struck, Killed While Retrieving Something From His Car In Toms River: Police A pedestrian was struck and killed in a crash in Ocean County, authorities said. The fatal crash occurred at about 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at the intersection of Bay Avenue and Twin Oaks Drive, Toms River police said. An initial investigation found that Ashley Beams, 31, of Toms River, was traveling east on Bay Avenue when she failed to maintain her lane, traveling in the shoulder, and struck a pedestrian who was parked retrieving something from his vehicle, police said. Update: Lightning Strikes, High Winds Ravage Toms River UPDATED: All Toms River Fire companies are out throughout the township for numerous storm-related calls, authorities said. Beginning about 3 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters and EMS personnel were called to three structures hit by lightning. One home caught fire on Riverbrook Court, a fire dispatcher said. Numerous trees are down including on a home on Twin Oaks Drive.
