Parents Of Drowned NJ Toddler See Surge Of Support
The drowning of a New Jersey toddler has prompted a wave of support for his parents.
Witten Steigerwald, 18 months, was found in a pool in Spotswood and wasn't breathing around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, officials in Middlesex County said.
Responders performed CPR, and Witten was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"No one is ever prepared for the loss of a child and as such no funeral preparations had been made," Witten's uncle, Scott Steigerwald, said on a GoFundMe page for his brother, Kevin, and Witten's mother, Renee.

Assault By Auto Charges For DUI Driver In Rt. 202 Crash That Hospitalized Motorcyclist
A driver from Middlesex County was charged with assault by auto and DUI after sending a motorcyclist to the hospital in a Flemington crash, authorities announced.
Christopher Grohens, 33, of Spotswood, was charged with assault by auto, DUI, reckless driving, and following too closely, Flemington Borough Police said in a press release on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
A Flemington officer allegedly saw Grohens strike the motorcyclist near Route 202/31 Circle just after 12:35 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25.
The motorcyclist was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the crash.

Treasurer Stole $4K From Lakeside Rod And Gun Club: Ocean Prosecutor
The treasurer of a Jersey Shore gun club was arrested on accusations he stole about $4,000 from the organization, authorities announced.
Michael D. Weber, 64, of Spotswood, stole the funds from the Plumstead-based Lakeside Rod and Gun Club in his role as treasurer between July 2017 and January 2021, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Weber was responsible for collecting and depositing the club’s membership dues and paying the club’s expenses. While he did, in fact, collect the membership dues, Weber utilized the funds for his own personal benefit, police said.…
