Seaside Heights Voters Reject Merger With Toms River School District: Unofficial Results Seaside Heights voters rejected a plan to merge the island borough's school district with the Toms River Regional School District. According to unofficial results, 232 voters in Seaside Heights voted "no" on the merger, while 167 voters said "yes" in the referendum on Tuesday, Apr. 16. The plan would have eventually closed the Seaside district's only school Hugh J. Boyd, Jr. Elementary School. Prosecutor: 1,400 Wax Folds Of Heroin, ~$16,700, Firearm Seized In Jersey Shore Drug Bust Four New Jersey residents were arrested for distributing heroin, fentanyl and cocaine following an investigation involving nearly a dozen law enforcement agencies, authorities said Thursday. Kevin Collins, 37, and Daysha Kelly, 35, operated out of a Pine Beach home, while Elex Hyman, 49, and Jamie Steen, 38, used a Lakewood home, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. Toms River Teen Impaled By Javelin A teenager from the Jersey Shore was hospitalized after being impaled by a javelin at a track-and-field event, authorities said.  Firefighters in Toms River were called to cut the javelin without vibration before taking the victim to the hospital, initial reports said.  It was unclear whether the boy was a student observer or an athlete participating in the event. Brick Police Bust Trio For Drugs, Seize Car After Stop Brick police arrested three people and seized their car after finding crack and pot during a Wednesday morning traffic stop, authorities said. Street Crimes Unit members found driver Michael Trotman, 35, of Pine Beach Borough carrying less than a half-ounce crack and a small amount of marijuana during the 9 a.m. stop near Brick Boulevard and Schoener Drive, Brick police said. Trotman was charged with various drug offenses and sent to the Ocean County Jail to await a detention hearing. Pedestrian Struck By Car In Pine Beach Police and emergency crews were responding to Pine Beach late Wednesday afternoon on a report that a pedestrian was struck by a car. The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. near Pennsylvania Avenue and Motor Road, according to unconfirmed reports. The accident victim reportedly was sitting along the side of the roadway after being struck by the vehicle.  It was unknown whether the pedestrian suffered injuries and whether the car's driver remained on scene.  This is a developing story.
