A Lakewood man has been extradited to New Jersey in the slaying of his girlfriend, authorities said. John Filistovich, 59, was transferred from Salisbury, Maryland, to Ocean County Jail in connection with the murder of Betty Perry, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. A 59-year-old Lakewood man has been charged with killing his live-in girlfriend before fleeing to Maryland, authorities said. One person was killed and a second woman is in critical condition after a fire at a multi-family home Sunday night, March 19, authorities said. Three Manchester police officers were brought to the hospital for smoke inhalation and released, they said. Authorities have identified the man found drowned in a Jersey Shore lagoon. The elderly man was found floating face down along Laurel Boulevard, Lanoka Harbor, at 1:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, according to Lacey Police Capt. Paul Sullivan Jr. The man was identified as Robert Mcelvaney, 89, of 1025 Laurel Blvd., he said. As of this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious, Sullivan said. A 32-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Jersey Shore crash on Tuesday, authorities said. Philip Gurganious, of Browns Mills, was heading north on County Route 539 when he left the roadway near Lincoln Boulevard and struck a utility pole around 6:45 p.m., Manchester police say.
