The New Jersey Senate approved a bill, 38-0, that would exempt nursing mothers from jury duty. The bill was sponsored by Majority Leader M. Teresa Ruiz (D-Essex/Hudson) and Brian Stack (D-Hudson.) What Newly Signed Tax Bill Means For Atlantic City Casinos State legislation giving tax breaks to Atlantic City casinos was signed into law by Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday night. The bill does not affect state taxes that casinos must pay on internet gambling, online sports betting revenue or in-person casino gambling. Those taxes range from 9 to 15 percent annually. Grewal on Wednesday told prosecutors to drop most pot possession cases for at least two months while lawmakers hash out a new law.  Driving under the influence remains a crime, however, as does selling or having pot for sale, he said. Middlesex County Welcomes New Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone of Metuchen, former assignment judge of Somerset County, was sworn in Tuesday as Middlesex County prosecutor. Ciccone took her oath during a brief ceremony officiated by retired judge and former Prosecutor Alan A. Rockoff. In June, Gov. Phil Murphy nominated Ciccone as the county's next full-time prosecutor. She was confirmed by the Senate on June 15 and will serve a five-year term as the county prosecutor. The prosecutor's office handles more than 6,500 criminal complaints annually, has a budget of $20.7 million and employs more than 200 people.
