Macy's plans to close about 30 percent of its remaining stores over the next three years. The 150 closures will be at underperforming locations, with 50 planned for this year, the retailer announced on Tuesday, Feb. 27, unveiling what it is calling "A Bold New Chapter" strategy designed to return Macy’s profitability. Nearly 50K Massage Guns Sold Nationwide Recalled Due To Fire, Burn Hazards
Nearly 50,000 massage guns sold at major retailers across the country are being recalled due to more than a dozen reports of overheating and a burn injury. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this week that Homedics is recalling tens of thousands of personal massagers that ca overheat while charging, leading to a report of fire or burn risk. In total, approximately 46,000 are being recalled in the US, and another 41,000 in Canada, according to federal officials. Police Not Fooled By Bomb Threat At NJ Mall, Nab Stolen Car Trio
The driver of a stolen car stopped by Wayne police called in a bomb threat at the Macy’s in the Willowbrook Mall in the hopes of distracting them, authorities charged. Capt. A violent fugitive from Jersey City who's wanted in Maryland remained held in the Passaic County Jail after he was busted for shoplifting, authorities said. Authorities in Anne Arundel County, MD are seeking the extradition of Jonathan D. Peralta, 37, to answer a theft charge there, Wayne Police Detective Capt. Dan Daly said. Compactor Fire Clears Route 4 Mall
The Shops at Riverside off Route 4 in Hackensack was evacuated Tuesday as city firefighters doused a compactor blaze. Sprinklers temporarily kept the fire in check before firefighters took over on the Macy's loading dock beneath the parking garage shortly before 2 p.m. A DPW truck pulled the contractor out so they could extinguish the blaze. The fire didn’t spread to the interior of the mall, responders said. Teaneck and Bogota firefighters provided mutual aid. Tuesday Morning Retailer Struck By Coronavirus Closing 7 NJ Stores
Home goods retailer Tuesday Morning is the latest national outlet to seek bankruptcy protection, company officials said. Tuesday Morning's closing is a result of the "immense strain of the COVID-19 pandemic," the Dallas-based retail chain said in a statement. Victoria’s Secret will permanently close about 250 stores in the U.S. and Canada this year, parent company L Brands announced.
