2-Year-Old Rescued From Sand Collapse On NJ Beach A toddler was rescued on a Monmouth County beach after the sand around him collapsed, authorities said. Sea Girt police said officers responded to an incident at Neptune Beach involving a missing child at around 11:22 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. When officers arrived, the parents of a two-year-old boy said he was playing on the beach when the sand around him collapsed.  The boy's father was able to pull him out of the sand within two to three minutes. SInkholes Filled At Jersey Shore Beach, Area Remains Blocked Off Sinkholes that left a Jersey Shore beach unusable earlier this month have largely been filled back in by natural tide cycles, state officials said. The first sinkhole at Bradley Beach was spotted on Thursday, Aug. 11. Several other sinkholes off McCabe Avenue were found the next day.  A section of the beach near the sinkholes remains fenced off as a precaution, according to state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) spokesman Larry Hajna. Historic Lighthouse Shined-Up In Months-Long Restoration On Jersey Shore ]Barnegat Lighthouse will close to visitors for the next seven months as the Department of Environmental Protection begins a $1.3 million restoration of the historic lighthouse, New Jersey officials said. The lighthouse closes for construction on Monday, March 14, according to DEP Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette.
