140 Shopping Carts Stolen From NJ Shop-Rite Lot, Elderly Man, Younger Pal Busted A 77-year-old Cuban national and a middle-aged accomplice from Newark were arrested after 140 shopping carts were stolen from the Rochelle Park ShopRite over the course of two weeks, authorities said. The carts began vanishing from the parking lot of the West Passaic Street supermarket on March 27, Rochelle Park Police Capt. James M. Todd Lansing, 46, of Brick Township, was charged with two counts each of third-degree burglary, third-degree theft, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools. Corey Thermitus, 20, was arrested on Friday, Mar. 8, Wall Township police said in a news release.  Thermitus was driving a 2015 Hyundai Sonata on Route 35 when officers pulled him over at around 3:45 p.m. Police said he had a Taurus 9mm gun, two knives, a sledgehammer, and a ski mask.
