SWAT Team Called To Somerset County Home After Armed Man Barricades Himself In Bathroom
A standoff between the local SWAT team and an armed man in a Somerset County home that lasted several hours eventually had what authorities described as a “peaceful resolution.” The Bernards Township Police Department responded alongside the Somerset County SWAT team and the Crisis Negotiators Team to a report of an “emotionally disturbed” resident with a loaded gun at a home on Goltra Drive around 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. NJ Man, 81, Killed With Ax, Grandson Taken Into Custody
UPDATE: Elmwood Park detectives signed murder and weapons charges against the grandson of a prominent borough resident who authorities said was killed when he interrupted a burglary. Jason Vicari, 21, of Wyckoff remained held in the Bergen County Jail following Tuesday's killing of 81-year-old Ronald Vicari. The younger Vicari was taken into custody following a brief SWAT standoff at the older man's Beechwood Avenue home. Lacey PD: 'Shelter In Place' During Armed Standoff
Some residents of Lacey Township are being asked to "shelter in place in their homes," while police and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department negotiates with an armed man. Both law enforcement agencies issued an alert about 5 p.m. stating that Beach Boulevard will remain closed to traffic in both directions, between Waikiki and Molokai drives until it's deemed safe by police. An initial, unconfirmed report said that a man was found nude and bloodied in the backyard before barricading" himself from police and that he is possibly armed with hunting firearms.
