Higher Court Overturns Judge's Order Requiring Transgender Bias Training For Jersey City Police A New Jersey appeals court has overturned a local judge’s order that the Jersey City Police Department establish annual transgender sensitivity training. Superior Court Judge Martha Lynes has the authority to order the training as a remedy for discriminatory treatment of a shoplifting suspect, the Appellate Division ruled Friday. Lynes, however, should have allowed both sides to file briefs addressing how far such training should go, the appeals judges emphasized.
