Reports: Monmouth Man Serving 50-Year Prison Sentence For Attempted Murder Gets New Trial A New Jersey appeals court has thrown out the attempted murder conviction of a Monmouth County man who is serving 50 years in Trenton State Prison for allegedly shooting another man. A three-judge panel found that detectives lied to Anthony Sims Jr., 32, of Long Branch about why they wanted to question him: for an assault rather than the actual charge of attempted murder.
