Victim Rescued, Hospitalized After Jet Ski Goes Up In Flames, Explodes On Lake Hopatcong
A jet skier was rescued and hospitalized after the vessel went up in flames and exploded on Lake Hopatcong Sunday night, authorities said. Hopatcong Police responded to the Byram Cove area of the lake and worked alongside the NJSP Marine Unit to rescue the victim around 7:20 p.m., Lt. Michael O’Shea told Daily Voice. Officers were told by witnesses at the scene that the victim’s jet ski had exploded, O’Shea said. The victim was taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. Boy, 5, Airlifted After Being Hit By Puck At Hopatcong Roller Hockey Rink
A 5-year-old boy was airlifted with traumatic injuries after he was hit in the head by a puck at a Hopatcong hockey rink, authorities said. Emergency crews responded to the Hopatcong Roller Hockey Rink and found the boy bleeding profusely from the head around 12:50 p.m. Sunday, local police said. The boy was pale and could not respond to verbal commands as officers determined that he had gone into shock, police said. ! Search Team Finds Hopatcong Man Reported Missing By Wife
UPDATE: A search-and-rescue team that numbered in the dozens on Saturday found a 34-year-old Hopatcong man whose wife reported him missing the night before. Kevin Fawthrop was hospitalized for hypothermia after members of the Ramapo Search and Rescue Team and co-workers from Blue Diamond Waste Removal found him in a heavily wooded area about a mile and a half from his home, responders said.
