"We've had guys join three games in who have been impact guys," the team noted in a Facebook post. There are 10 more matches from now until June, including a trip to North Carolina. No experience is needed.
Highlander Rugby is for high-school-aged boys in northern New Jersey and lower New York area. The team was founded in 2010. It notes,
We believe rugby is for everyone and put an emphasis on building a strong community around our players. Our players become a family, learning to work together and count on one another. Through our program we hope to challenge our players to work harder than they ever have physically, and grow as young men. We look for opportunities to give back to the community. We hope to challenge our players to start to thinking about goals they want to set on and off the field, and becoming men of strong character on and off the rugby field.
Practice is at the turf -- at 64 Highlander Drive West Milford -- from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights. For more information about the team, including a contact page and a signup form, visit its website.
