PASSAIC COUNTY, N.Y. -- The latest forecast models show hurricane Joaquin veering away from the east coast and heading out to sea, and while Passaic County will be spared the worst of it, heavy rain and coastal flooding remains in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
Clouds and rain will remain in the area on Friday with a high of 54 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.
Light rain and drizzle will continue on Saturday morning with a high near 52 and wind gusts up to 30 mph.
Light rain could linger on Sunday with a high near 59 degrees.
Conditions will begin to improve on Monday with partly sunny skies and a high in the mid-60s.
