The play is directed by Kurt Stelzenmueller, with choreographer Terese Opiela and musical directors Chick Barnes and Traci Bopp.
Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation.
Based on the contemporary fairy-tale book and the animated film it inspired, Shrek the Musical uses an all-new score to expand on the movie’s original story. Like the movie, there are pop-culture references galore and plenty of laughs.
The show runs on weekends from Nov. 13 to Dec. 13, at 8 p.m. Fridays, 7 p.m. Satursdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets cost $28 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $22 for children ages 17 and younger.
