The following is a sampling of parades and dedications taking place across Passaic County on Monday, May 30. Feel free to comment on our Facebook page and add any we've missed. You should also check your town's website for parade information.
Bloomingdale: The parade begins at 9:00 a.m. in front of Sloan Park with a short ceremony before continuing on Main Street to Butler Park, where a ceremony will be held. Children are encouraged to decorate their bicycles and participate in the parade (with parental supervision).
Hawthorne: The annual Memorial Day parade starts at noon at Borough Hall on Lafayette Ave.
Passaic: The annual parade starts at 9 a.m. on Lexington Avenue and ends on Armory Park.
Pompton Lakes: Come at noon to Veteran's Park for a parade and then, when done, free hot dogs and beer.
Wayne: Get out your red, white and blue and cheer on this colorful parade which includes floats, local high school bands, the Passaic County Emerald Society Pipes and Drums and an ROTC Naval Unit. The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Ramapo Shopping Center and proceeds down Valley Rd. before concluding at the Municipal Building with a ceremony honoring local veterans.
West Milford: To honor our vets, there will be music at Memorial Park (next to the Library) - starting at 9:30 am. A ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the annual parade at 10:30 a.m.
Woodland Park: There's a lot going on at Woodland Park on Memorial Day beginning with a 9:30 a.m.Fire Dept. ceremony at the Firemen’s Memorial (McBride Ave. & Memorial Dr.). Another ceremony follows at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park (McBride Ave. and Brophy Ln.) followed by the annual parade. The parade starts at 11 a.m. along McBride Ave, starting at Glover and ending at Memorial Dr. There is also a big street fair from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at McBride Ave, from Memorial Dr to Lackawanna Ave.
