Enjoy The Festival Of Lights With Passaic County's Many Hanukkah Events

PASSAIC COUNTY, N.J. -- Hanukkah falls early this year -- it begins at sunset, Sunday, Dec. 6 and lasts until Monday, Dec. 14.- and, as always, Pasaic County is ablaze with events. What follows is a sampling.

Sunday, Dec. 6: Build your own menorah at the Riverdale Home Depot (106 Rte. 23) from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Call (201) 696-7609 to register. 

Later in the day in Ringwood, there will be a community menorah lighting in front of the Wells Fargo Bank (110 Skyline Dr.) at 6 p.m.

There's also a Chanukah party in Wayne at the Chabad Center of Passaic County from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. (194 Ratzer Rd.). Information: (973) 694-6274, www.jewishwayne.com/.

Monday, Dec. 7: Join the community for a menorah lighting in Bloomingdale at 7 p.m. in front of the Bloomingdale Town Hall (101 Hamburg Turnpike). Information: (201) 696-7609

Wednesday, Dec. 9: Enjoy the lighting of a giant balloon menorah at Chabad Jewish Center in Haskell (1069 Ringwood Ave.) starting at 7 p.m. Chankuah crafts and latkes will also be part of the festivities. RSVP to Rabbi@JewishHighlands.org or call (201) 696-7609.

Thursday, Dec. 10: Chabad Jewish Center of Upper Passaic County is the sponsor behind a community-wide menorah candle lighting at the West Milford Town Hall at 7 p.m. (1480 Union Valley Rd.). Information: (201) 696-7609
