BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. -- The Bloomingdale Free Public Library is hosting a variety of events as the calendar moves into May.
Here are the details about some of them:
Family Storytime -- Saturday, April 23, 10:30 a.m. -- Come celebrate Autism Awareness Month with a fun and inclusive family story time, open to all ages and abilities.
Friday Crafternoon -- Friday, May 6, 3:30 p.m. -- Kids 5 and up are welcome to come make cupcake-liner flowers for Mother's Day.
Paws to Read -- Saturday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. -- Thatcher the Golden Retriever, a certified therapy dog, will again visit BFPL. You can read him a story or just enjoy some quality time with him. All ages are welcome.
Project Create: Full STEAM Ahead -- Kids will create as we explore science, technology, engineering, art and math through fun projects and activities. The next projects -- all beginning at 6 p.m. -- will be
- Monday, April 25 -- constructing a marble run
- May 9 -- exploring Snap Circuits, and
- May 23 -- cosmic suncatchers at 6:00PM. Ages 8-13.
Block Party -- ongoing, but the next session is Saturday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m. -- Pursue a different Lego challenge each month or create your own masterpiece. This month's theme will be Batman, to celebrate Batman Day, on Sunday, May 1. All ages are welcome, with bigger blocks provided for younger participants.
90th Anniversary Celebration -- Celebrate BFPL's 90th anniversary on Saturday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This family-friendly event will feature Christine the Caricature Artist throughout, Jay Jay the Bubble Guy at 11 a.m., music by Arnold & Jimmy, and light refreshments. All ages are welcome.
