NORTHERN VALLEY, N.J. -- Harrington Park resident Allan Napolitano braved the elements on Saturday, hitting the ATM and the grocery store in neighboring Closter and Emerson.
"If you have 4-wheel drive, you're fine," he told Daily Voice. "Snow clearing is easy, but it just keeps coming."
Napolitano, who commended the borough's snow removal, had been looking forward to the Knights of Columbus Beefsteak Dinner, but the event was moved to next Saturday.
Other events, such as games in the Bergen County girls' basketball tournament, were also postponed. Pascack Valley, the sixth seed, got in its opening round game on Friday, defeating No. 27 Fort Lee, 62-24.
"Knowing how difficult scheduling is, Fort Lee was totally on board with a Friday start," longtime PV girls basketball coach Jeff Jasper told Daily Voice. "With the support of Athletic Director Tom Gattoni, we've put behind the anxiety of [getting our opening round game in with the inclement weather]."
Winter Storm Jonas wasn't enough to stop a hungry Montvale resident from getting food. Despite the "awful" conditions, Andrew Kara ventured out to get some grub.
Over in Fort Lee, the snow is piled high, said resident Nova Damouni.
"Winter is finally and officially here," she noted.
