Woman Struck, Killed By Freight Train In Dumont
A woman was struck and killed by a freight train Saturday morning in Dumont. The victim, wearing a pink sweater, was struck by the southbound CSX train just north of the New Milford Avenue crossing near West Shore Avenue around 10 a.m., responders said. An ALS unit pronounced her dead at the scene soon after. The relatively short train -- for CSX-- wasn't blocking any crossings, contrary to reports, witnesses said. Pedestrians, Driver Hospitalized In Dumont Crash
Two pedestrians and a driver were hospitalized following a chain-reaction crash in Dumont, responders said. None of the injuries appeared life-threatening, responders said. A minivan driver had stopped to let the pedestrians cross at the corner of New Milford Avenue and Pine Street when the vehicle was rear-ended by a truck around 7 p.m. Tuesday, responders said. Police: Armed Uber Eats Driver Captured After Dumont Carjacking
Police captured a gun-toting Uber Eats deliveryman who carjacked a driver in Dumont and then crashed during Wednesday night's snowstorm, authorities said Thursday. The victim told police an SUV struck his orange Dodge Challenger from behind at the intersection of Washington and Madison avenues shortly after 11 p.m. The victim said he got out and was confronted by two men, one carrying a gun, Police Chief Thomas McKeary said. Responders Lift Car Off Struck Pedestrian In Dumont, Hit For Second Time In Month
UPDATE: Dumont police and firefighters lifted a car off a pedestrian who was pinned beneath it after being struck Friday night -- the second time she'd been hit in under a month, responders said. The victim, who is in her late 40s, was in stable condition after being struck by the small sedan around 6:40 p.m. at New Milford Avenue and Concord Street, they said. Couple Hit By Car In Dumont
Two pedestrians struck by a sedan in Dumont were hospitalized Saturday night with injuries that responders said weren’t life-threatening. The fifty-something couple were walking over the CSX railroad crossing on New Milford Avenue near Dumont High School when they were struck by the westbound vehicle, responders said. Both the man and woman were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with head injuries, they said, adding that she also had a hip injury.
