Authorities have released body camera video of the incident when a Toms River man died while police tried to detain him. The state Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability made the footage public on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The video showed the Friday, Apr. 19 encounter that ended with the death of 47-year-old John Cassidy. Troopers Won't Be Charged For South Jersey Man's Death In Police Custody, AG's Office Says
No state troopers will face criminal charges after a Millville man died while in police custody, authorities said. A state grand jury voted to not file any charges related to the death of 30-year-old Daniel King, the state Office of the Attorney General said in a news release on Monday, Oct. 1. King died more than 24 hours after he was arrested in Fairfield Township. Investigators said Trooper Mark Allonardo responded to a home on Fordville Road at around 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Police: Fatal Crash In North Arlington Might Have Involved Medical Episode
A 63-year-old driver who died following a crash in North Arlington may have suffered a medical episode beforehand, authorities said. Three vehicles were involved in the 7:18 a.m. collision outside the Riverside Laundromat on a busy stretch of River Road near the Belleville Turnpike on Monday, March 7 -- a Ford Mustang, a Toyota Sienna and a Nissan, Capt. Sedan Slams Into Pole, Tenafly Driver, 58, Seriously Injured
A 58-year-old Tenafly driver was hospitalized in serious but stable condition after her sedan slammed into a utility pole Tuesday morning, authorities said. The vicitm was headed east on East Clinton Avenue when the Mitsubishi struck the pole between Farview and Old Smith roads at 8:16 a.m., police Capt. Michael deMoncada said. The driver may have suffered a medical episode, although there also was "significant sun glare" on the road at the time, deMoncada said. Responders said she was unconscious when taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. Police were investigating.

Ridgefield Park police revived a driver who crashed on Route 46 after apparently suffering a medical episode Saturday afternoon, authorities said. The 59-year-old Queens driver apparently had a low blood sugar-related incident before his car struck the concrete divider on the eastbound highway shortly after 2 p.m., village Police Chief Joseph Rella said. UPDATE: An autopsy found that a Paterson man died from a medical episode while in police custody that was triggered by bath salts that he'd ingested earlier combined with a previous condition, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M.
