A call of a person seen on the hood of a moving sedan brought police to the intersection of Anderson Street and Vanderbeck Place shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, Capt. Darrin DeWitt said. An Ecuadoran national was drunk when he crashed his Jeep into a traffic signal during a pre-dawn police chase in Hackensack and then took off on foot before dawn Monday, authorities said. UPDATE: Hackensack firefighters cut a driver from a vehicle after it was struck by a commuter train Wednesday morning, the second time in nine days that's happened in the city. The 70-year-old driver was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening after her Subaru Forester was struck as it crossed the tracks on Clinton Avenue at Linden Street around 7:50 a.m., police Capt. The driver of a pickup truck that hit two cars before plowing through the basement window of a Hackensack apartment on Monday didn't have a license, said police who also charged him with careless driving and failing to maintain a lane. HACKENSACK, N.J. -- A Hackensack driver told police she hit a utility pole and a "No Parking" sign early Tuesday afternoon after swerving to avoid another vehicle.
