: Saddle River Police Sergeant, Officer Douse Growing House Fire
Smoke rolled out the front door as Saddle River Police Sgt. Diana Golonek and Officer Grant Novak arrived at a house fire just before midnight Thursday. The living-room blaze was beginning to cook, leaving the pair little time. Golonek emptied two fire extinguishers on the flames while Novak opened a garden hose he'd pulled through an open French door of the 5,000-square-foot house on tiny dead-ended Dogwood Drive late on June 28. Fire Routs Residents Of Ridgewood Two-Family
All of the occupants of a two-family house in Ridgewood got out OK after a fire ignited in the attic. It will likely be awhile before they'll be able to return, however. The smoky blaze broke out in the 2½-story wood-frame house on Walton Street off South Maple Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4. Nasty Crash Near Route 17 Sends Two To Hospital
Two people were hospitalized following a crash at a busy Ho-Ho-Kus intersection. The collision at the five corners at Sheridan and Hollywood avenues near Gilbert Road around 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 severely damaged an SUV and a wagon. Both victims were taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with injuries that weren't immediately considered life-threatening. : No Hydrants Hampers Fight Against Upper Saddle River Mansion Fire At Rockland Border
Nearly three dozen mutual aid companies and well over 100 firefighters helped counter a lack of area hydrants as a fast-moving blaze consumed an Upper Saddle River mansion at the Rockland County border over the weekend. No one was injured in the multi-alarm Hillside Avenue blaze, which broke out in the $2.7 million home in the north end of town shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, and instantly became fully involved, fire officials said. Car Hits Tree, Bursts Into Flames Off Route 17
A car caught fire after slamming into a tree Thursday morning in Ho-Ho-Kus. The driver of the Nissan Altima was hospitalized with what authorities said were minor injuries following the 8 a.m. crash on Hollywood Avenue off northbound Route 17. Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters quickly KO'd the blaze. Borough police and the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded. : Pink Heals Rallies First Responders For Special Waldwick, Cliffside Park Boys
Two special young boys will be treated to a parade of first responders this Sunday in Waldwick, thanks to Pink Heals of Bergen County. Both Cole McKeon of Waldwick and Austin “AJ” Katchen of Cliffside Park were diagnosed months apart last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks certain types of nerve tissue. Before his first birthday, AJ had successful tumor resection surgery, the first of several operations. He’s also undergone chemotherapy that kept him hospitalized several months. Doctors declared AJ in remission last summer, but his immunotherapy and radiation t…
