A 23-year-old ex-con was carrying a loaded gun when he bit and punched Clifton police who caught him driving an SUV stolen out of Passaic, authorities said. A suspect in a stabbing set fire to his clothes, then began tossing furniture at police cars out the window of his second-floor Clifton apartment Thursday before a Passaic County Sheriff's SWAT team stormed in and seized him, authorities said. Arson Investigators Probe Clifton Fire Spree
Arson investigators Monday morning probed a trio of garbage can fires on the same Clifton block, authorities confirmed. No one was injured in the most recent blaze, a smoky 5 a.m. fire Monday that cleared a Highland Avenue home, authorities said. Police: Detectives Capture Teens Who Stabbed Clifton Man In Chest During Street Robbery
Clifton detectives tracked down two boys – one of them 14 – who they said stabbed a city man in the chest while robbing him. The robbers also cut the 43-year-old Clifton victim on his face when they attacked him near the corner of Highland and Parker avenues on Jan. 3 before fleeing with $300 in cash, Detective Lt. A Clifton detective broke his foot chasing a man who, it turned out, was wanted by ICE, authorities said. Investigators and uniformed officers who joined them found the man hiding in the rafters of a shed after a lengthy pursuit that began in the area of Hope and Highland avenues last Wednesday, Detective Lt. A trio of street dwellers mugged a fellow homeless man in broad daylight in Clifton on New Year’s Eve, authorities said. One of the assailants tried to stab him, but the victim’s jacket prevented the blade from penetrating, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.
