Massive Route 1&9 Tanker Fire Severely Burns Trucker, Guts Home
A trucker was badly burned when his tanker burst into flames after it was struck by another vehicle Friday night at a gas station off Route 1&9 in Elizabeth, responders said. Massive flames from the fully-involved truck fire at the BP station near Bayway Circle spread to and gutted a nearby two-family home on South Elmora Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Nine people -- three of them children -- reportedly were displaced. Box Truck Rams Gas Pump, Igniting Fire On Northbound Route 17 In Upper Saddle River
A box truck whose driver swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle careened off northbound Route 17 in Upper Saddle River and slammed into a service station pump, igniting a pre-dawn fire Thursday. The 38-year-old driver from Perth Amboy wasn’t injured in the crash at the Valero station just before the Upper Saddle River/Ramsey exit shortly after 4:30 a.m., Detective Lt. Edward Kane said. Tipped Rig Dumps Load Of Mulch Near Bergen-Rockland Border
A dump truck spilled a load of mulch Monday afternoon near the Bergen-Rockland border, toppling a utility pole, yanking down power lines and spilling fuel. Brookside Auto & Towing sent a heavy-duty wrecker to Rockleigh to right the rig after the Piermont Road mishap. New Milford sent its Hazardous Materials Unit to handle the fuel spill.
