Two vehicles that appear to be sedans had emerged from a side street onto Sunset Avenue near the White Beeches Golf and Country Club at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Lt. Justin Fox said on Monday, Dec. 19. Someone in the second vehicle fired two shots about five to 10 seconds apart, the second one at the house, the lieutenant told Daily Voice. Video: Haworth Nanny, Baby Stroller Struck By Hit-Run Van, Fleeing Rockland Driver Caught A Haworth nanny and an infant she was pushing in a stroller were struck Wednesday by a van driven by a FedEx worker from Rockland who fled the scene, authorities said. A police sergeant in neighboring Demarest stopped David Gutfeld, 56, of Airmont a short time later, Haworth Police Chief Michael Gracey said. The child was OK, but the 55-year-old nanny had to be hospitalized, Gracey said, adding that the entire incident was captured on home security video. “Lucky thing the child was strapped in securely,” he said. Firefighters Douse Haworth Blaze Firefighters quickly put down a late-night blaze that seriously damaged a Haworth home. Welding work in the master bathroom of the Sunset Avenue residence ignited the three-alarm blaze, which spread to the attic, around 10:40 p.m., responders said. Firefighters had it knocked down and under control in a little over a half hour. No injuries were reported, officials said. Mutual aid responders either at the scene or in coverage included firefighters from Closter, Demarest, Dumont, Hackensack, Harrington Park, New Milford and Tenafly. Haworth police and EMS also responded.

SUVs Collide In Demarest, One Hits House No serious injuries were reported after SUVs collided in Demarest, sending one smack into a house. The crash occurred Knickerbocker Road and Hardenburgh Avenue just before dusk Sunday. Demarest police, firefighters and the Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded. Haworth police assisted with traffic control.
