Rescue Of Clifton Firefighters From Passaic River

Loving captured the drama Wednesday afternoon as two Clifton firefighters were plucked from the Passaic River by a New Jersey State Police chopper after they'd gone in to rescue a construction crew. The three-member crew was clearing trees and brush from the river when their boat got snagged at the top of the Dundee Dam, which has a 20-foot drop to a lower section of the river below. Firefighters On Rescue Mission Airlifted After Going Over Falls In Passaic River
Two Clifton firefighters on a rescue mission in the Passaic River were themselves rescued by a New Jersey State Police helicopter Wednesday afternoon after their boat went over the falls at the Dundee Dam. Both were taken to an area hospital with injuries that weren’t believed to be life-threatening following the treacherous late-afternoon operation on June 28. Body Recovered From Passaic River
Authorities were trying to identify the body of an apparently homeless man who drowned Saturday in the Passaic River. Witnesses said the man didn't know how to swim, ignored friends' insistence that he not go in, then went under in a deep pond on the Clifton side of the river, Clifton Deputy Fire Chief Craig Hopkins said. Rescue teams from Clifton, Passaic and Wallington put boats in the water before a Bergen County Office of Emergency Management drone helped locate the body south of the Dundee Dam.
