An elite team of investigators captured a 23-year-old Wallington man who they said robbed two 7-Elevens on either side of the Passaic River by threatening workers with a large knife. Tymear Haskins grabbed an employee from behind as the victim took out the trash in back of the 7-Eleven on Main Avenue in Wallington shortly before 4 p.m. April 8, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Smoky Post-Christmas House Fire Ravages Passaic Home
A smoky house fire in Passaic went to four alarms the day after Christmas. No injuries were immediately reported in the blaze, which ignited in a Van Buren Street home near Central Avenue around 11 a.m., Passaic Mayor Hector Carlos Lora said. "All tenants are reported to be out and safe," the mayor said around noon. "Nobody appears to be in the building." Firefighters were quickly removed after a partial ceiling collapse, Lora said. Somerset Man Charged In Passaic Shooting
Authorities announced Friday that a Somerset County man surrendered to police nine days earlier in connection with a shooting in the city of Passaic. Joshua A. Villegas, 21, of Somerville, “was identified as one of the individuals involved” in the Central Avenue Jan. 17 shooting of a 21-year-old city resident, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a joint announcement with Passaic Police Chief Luis A. Guzman. They didn't say how many others may have been involved.
