Hackensack Man With Priors Charged With Attempted Murder In Paterson Shooting A Hackensack man was charged with attempted murder for shooting a Paterson resident, authorities said. Jamal Rollins, 29, was identified and captured by city police less than a week after the May 5 shooting near the corner of Pearl and Summer streets. The 26-year-old victim, who arrived for treatment at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in a private vehicle, told responding police officers that he was in the car when he was shot. Paterson PD: Detectives Disarm Garfield Man Reaching For Loaded Rifle Quick-moving Paterson police detectives grabbed a Garfield man as he reached for a loaded gun during a traffic stop, authorities said. Alerted by a tipster, the Narcotics Division detectives saw Brian Rochester, 23, “brandishing what appeared to be a short-barreled assault rifle” near the corner of 16th Avenue and Carroll Street, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. Community complaints prompted the quick strikes at Cliff and North 4th streets, 16th Avenue and Carroll Street and Jefferson Street, Police Director Jerry Speziale said. Taken off at Cliff and North 4th were three accused dealers: Enrique Garcia, 26, Hector Cruz, 50, and Luis Campbell, 27, all of Paterson, Speziale said.
