Tenafly contractor from Norwood charged with tax fraud

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: The owner of a Tenafly landscaping business had a first court appearance before a federal judge in Newark today on charges of failing to report $842,953 in income and $46,118 in self-employment tax.

Glen Latz of Norwood was indicted by a grand jury last week for two counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns following an investigation by the the IRS-Criminal Investigation Newark Field Office and U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman’s office.

While owning and operating Latz Construction Service and Structural Building Supplies, a stone construction business, Latz falsely reported combined losses in 2007 and 2008 of $37,909, IRS Special Agent Robert Glantz said this afternoon.
