The caller said he was in a school but didn’t know the name or the address, Police Lt. Michael Gracey told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.
“He said he was depressed, that he was angry at him mom, that he didn’t want to go to school and wanted to drop out, and that he wanted to shoot himself in the head,” the lieutenant said.
Gracey and his partner tracked the original of the cellphone call to the Sacred Heart School facility on Park Street, which houses the non-profit Bergen Center for Child Development.
They cleared the private school and put the nearby public school on lockdown as a precaution.
During the evacuation, a BCCD staffer noticed the caller coming out of a bathroom, Gracey said.
Given his mental condition, police had him taken to Bergen Regional Medical Center, where he will remain until being cleared by doctors.
No charges were being filed, Gracey said.
The 46-year-old BCCD services North Jersey special needs students from 5 to 21 years old.
