The intruders broke through a front-door glass window to get into the Paris Avenue house before snatching the safe and driving off around 11 a.m. Friday, Police Chief William Essmann said this afternoon.

With help from witnesses and Clarkstown police, Northvale officers identified and collared Bryan Pollard of Park Ridge and Brianne M. Oliveira of New City, both 20, he said.

The stolen safe was located in a dumpster in a New City park, the chief said, adding that it had been tampered with. The victim told police it contained an iPad, a cellphone and some personal items — all of which hadn’t been recovered.

Pollard and Oliveira were being held in the Rockland County jail pending extradition to Bergen County to face burglary and theft charges.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected and processed evidence from the scene.
