Konstantinos Hantsoulis, Vincente Ponsoda (MUGSHOTS: NJSP)
NJSP Cargo Theft investigators hit several units of a self-storage facility in Hillsborough on Tuesday, where they found much of the stolen goods, taken from several major retailers, Sgt. Brian Polite said this afternoon.
The unit belonged to Konstantinos Hantsoulis, 38, of Highland Park, who was arrested along with an alleged accomplice, Vincente Ponsoda, 56, of Belle Mead, Polite said.
Hantsoulis, a merchandise representative at the department store distribution center, “handled misdirected freight, most commonly defined as items that were accidentally sent to the department store,” the sergeant said. “nstead of sending the misdirected items back to the rightful owners, Hantsoulis arranged for the items to be picked up by Ponsoda in a rental truck.”
Ponsoda then sold the merchandise at flea markets, he said.
State Police Detective Freddy Araujo led the investigation that produced the arrests, Polite said.
Hantsoulis and Ponsoda are charged with theft. Ponsada also is charged with receiving stolen property.
Both were freed pending Municipal Court appearances.
