Police said the dead girl’s body was outside on the lawn, where a neighbor was trying to revive her, and another neighbor was tending to her sister, who was barely clinging to life nearby.
Records show 33-year-old Jenny Lizette Erazo-Rodriguez, told police: “I killed my girl. I killed my girl. My baby girl.”
The elder girl told police her sister’s screams woke her but that her mother told her to go back to sleep. They said Erazo-Rodriguez followed her and sat on the girl, who was face down.
After the youngster passed out, the Honduran immigrant strangled her younger daughter and slit her own wrists, authorities said.
It was not clear whether the children’s father was outside at the time of the incident, or how the girls got to lawn.
Erazo-Rodriguez is hospitalized in custody, on $1 million bail, charged with murder, attempted murder and endangering.
