Although there wasn’t a direct tie-in yet, citizens reported seeing a “rundown, older-style” white van in the area of Concord Street (blue line, map) and Magnolia Avenue (red line), where the kick-ins occurred between 9:30-10 a.m., Detective Jason Lanzilotti told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

The burglars, one of whom was wearing a ski mark, left a shovel behind, Lanzilotti said. One was described as white, 5-foot 9 and the other as about 6 feet tall.

Residents of both houses where home and scared off the burglars — but not before the .357 was snatched, he said.

Jewelry also was taken, Lanzilotti said, but that was left behind in a pillowcase when the burglars bolted.
