No one was injured, authorities said.

Closter police, firefighters and EMS responded to Extech (formerly Pasvalco) at 9:17 a.m. for a fire in the 40-foot shipping container, which was being used for storage in the stone yard, Police Chief Dennis Kaine told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“The cause of the fire was a welder working on the container,” the chief said.

The intial responders were joined by Demarest, Haworth, Norwood, Northvale and Harrington Park firefighters and a Bergen County Hazardous Materials Unit.

The scene was cleared at 11:45 a.m., Kaine said.
