For many years the Society has sponsored History Day to give townspeople an opportunity to learn more about their town’s history. It also gives the Society a chance to add to its collection of papers and artifacts, either by scanning the papers people bring to the event or when people donate items of historic interest.

The event includes displays on the town's history, including a special exhibit of the Society's most recent acquisitions. The day is also a chance for the public to learn about the Society and its activities. Some of these include a 10-lecture series, from September through June at the Society's general public meetings, and the maintenance and preservation of two historic cemeteries in Harrington Park -- the Perry Cemetery and the Old Burying Ground.

The event will run from 10 a.m. until noon. The Borough Hall is located on Harriot Avenue.

On Sunday, the public can enjoy another day of history, taking a self-guided tour of Revolutionary War sites in the Northern Valley. This tour is of the historic site markers situated along the roads of the Valley. Folks can pick up a free copy of the guide, written by Elizabeth James, at the History Day exhibit.
