Over the winter, he qualified for the NJSIAA state wrestling tournament for the second time in his career. He's currently a nationally-ranked hurdler in the midst of the spring track season.
But Jordan, 18, has something else he can now add to his resume: Eagle Scout.
As a member of Boy Scout Troop 616, he helped build a pergola and added a white board to provide shade over the paver platform of Harrington Park School's courtyard.
"The finished product turned out even better than we expected," his mom, Joann, told Daily Voice. "It completely changed the landscape of the entire courtyard."
With the added shade, the courtyard's tables and benches can be used for outdoor instruction, she said.
The younger Jordan son raised over $3,700 for the project through a summer garage sale. He sold donated items from the community and the troop.
The pergola was installed just before students began the 2015-16 school year.
The project was admittedly an ambitious one.
"We honestly had doubts about whether or not we would be able to raise enough money," she said. "It was truly a labor of love, and we were overwhelmed with the help we received from family, friends, fellow scouts, community members, and strangers."
Jordan couldn't do it alone – his Scoutmaster John Terranova of New Earth Landscaping; John Schumacher, a family friend and contractor; and Chris Mueger of Allstate Builders, who helped find the right pergola company, all pitched in.
"My Eagle project showed me that I could work with authority figures and spearhead an undertaking like that," Jordan told Daily Voice. "That confidence inspired me to get a mat light for our wrestling team."
