NJ Transit, Amtrak Service Resumes After Power Outage, Brush Fire
Service to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains was disrupted for the second time this week on Thursday, June 20 due to both power issues and brush fires along the NJ Turnpike, officials said. Amtrak service between Philadelphia and New Haven had been suspended while NJ Transit service in and out of NY Penn Station was also suspended, due to power issues on the Amtrak line, NJ Transit said. A crash caused heavy delays along the Garden State Parkway in Bergen County early Friday, June 14. The NJDOT site shows the accident happened on the northbound side at Exit 165 A-B at Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus. A 19-year-old motorcyclist from Moonachie was hospitalized after he was ejected during a rear-end crash early Tuesday with a Tesla on Route 17, authorities said. The May 7 morning rush was well underway when the motorcyclist rammed the other vehicle from behind just south of the busy Franklin Avenue intersection around 7:30 a.m. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening, Hasbrouck Heights Police Lt. Granite Spill Temporarily Closes Route 46 Bridge
A noontime mishap closed the Route 46 bridge over the Hackensack River on Monday. The delay was temporary after a truck carrying granite and quartz spilled most of its load on the 89-year-old span between Little Ferry and Ridgefield Park on March 13. A New Jersey Department of Transportation crew with a front-end loader and dump truck cleaned up the spill and the road was reopened. No injuries were reported.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Toyota Friday afternoon while walking on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County, authorities said. Snapping Turtle That Slowed NJ Turnpike Traffic Rescued By State Troopers
Traffic was crawling on the New Jersey Turnpike Friday -- as was the little guy causing the backup. New Jersey State Troopers rescued a snapping turtle from the highway near Interchange 15W. "You just never know what’s causing a traffic delay—a broken down car, an accident, debris in the road, or maybe, just maybe, a tortoise," police said in a news release. "A couple of Troops made sure this guy was safely removed from the roadway before allowing traffic back into the lane."
