A recent uptick in vehicle-related accidents across Paramus has prompted the local police department to expand its Traffic Safety Unit. In the past 24 hours alone, three separate incidents involving pedestrians have been reported, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said Saturday, Nov. 16. Three juveniles are facing charges after leading a police pursuit across multiple Bergen County towns, ending in a collision involving a police car, authorities said. Trouble began around 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 in Paramus, when officers were called to a Concord Drive home on reports of people wearing ski masks and dark clothing trying to steal a BMW from the driveway, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. A driver told police he apparently blacked out before his sedan rammed into a Paramus home Thursday morning. ! Missing Paramus Man With Special Needs Found Lying Shoeless In Snow
HERO: A Paramus police lieutenant saved the life of a missing 42-year-old borough man with special needs when he found him lying shoeless and gloveless in the snow in a nearby park. Temperatures were in the teens when what became an intensive search for the Spring Valley Road man began around 6 a.m. They'd only reached the low 20s when Detective Lt. John Devine, who was among those searching for him, found the man in nearby Van Saun Park several hours later, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. He was taken to New Bridge Medical Center for observation, the chief said.

Four Hospitalized In Paramus Crash
A morning crash in Paramus sent four people to the hospital. One had to be extricated following the crash at Spring Valley Road and Forest Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. Monday. Police: Paramus High Cross Country Runners Struck In Hit-Run, Driver Sought
Authorities are seeking the driver who they said struck two Paramus High School cross country runners knocking them to the ground and then fled the scene. A red SUV was stopped at the intersection of Haase Avenue and Spring Valley Road when the 14-year-old girls ran across, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Deputy Chief Robert Guidetti said. The driver -- a light-skinned female with brown hair -- pulled out and struck the teens, who fell to the ground and suffered non life-threatening injuries, Guidetti said. Paramus firefighters extricated an injured sedan driver after a Tuesday morning crash with an SUV. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the female driver following the crash at the corner of Forest Avenue and Spring Valley Road. Both she and the other driver were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. Flatbed tow trucks removed both vehicles. Paramus police and EMS also responded. Boyd A.
