NJ Man Who Sexually Assaulted 9-Year-Old Captured Trying To Board Flight: Prosecutor
A 39-year-old Somerset County man was arrested for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl while boarding a flight from Chicago to Utah, authorities said. The alleged victim told a detective with the prosecutor's office that she had been sexually assaulted by Fabian Osuna-Vargas on Oct. 19 in North Plainfield, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said. Two days later, Osuna-Vargas was getting on a flight from Chicago, Illinois to Salt Lake City, Utah on Oct. 21 when he was captured, McDonald said. NJ Fencing Coach Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 2 Teens Dies In Jail: Report
A New Jersey fencing coach arrested last October for sexually assaulting two teens and lying under oath died in jail, NJ Advance Media reports citing his attorney. Stephen M. Kovacs, 49, was indicted this month on two counts each of sexual assault endangering the welfare of a child, and false swearing, the outlet says citing attorney Jim Wronko. Kovacs, of Watchung and formerly Clifton, apparently died over the weekend, Wronko said. The cause of death was not released. : Paramus Nanny Convicted Of Leaving 9-Month-Old With Broken Bones
Jurors last week convicted a nanny from Paramus of abusing a 9-month-old child in her care, sending the infant to the hospital with several broken bones. A judge scheduled a Sept. 27 sentencing for Laura Gonzalez, 38, who was found guilty of child endangerment and simple assault following a trial in Somerville, authorities said. Meanwhile, she remained held in the Somerset County Jail.
