An 81-year-old driver from Cresskill was pronounced dead at the scene after her car struck a utility pole Monday morning in Tenafly, said police who are seeking witnesses. East Clinton Avenue was closed for more than an hour and a half after the victim's Ford Focus, which was headed toward Route 9W, crashed near Buckingham Road around 8 a.m. Nov. 27, Tenafly Police Lt. Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Hitting Deer On 9W
A motorcyclist from Bergenfield was hospitalized after hitting a deer on Route 9W in Alpine, authorities said. The 22-year-old rider's Honda struck the deer on the road's southbound side just south of Alpine Scout Camp shortly before 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Alpine Police Chief Christopher Belcolle said. Members of the Demarest Volunteer Ambulance Corps took her to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries to his shoulder and upper arm. The deer fled, he said.

Two vehicles were destroyed in a weekend Englewood Cliffs garage fire that spread to the home, responders said. Flames spread from the attached garage after the two-alarm fire broke out shortly before 9 p.m. at the more-than-5,136-square foot Barbara Lane home off Roberts Road near Route 9W. It was declared under control about an hour later. Mutual aid companies included firefighters from Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Englewood, Fort Lee and Leonia.
