: Route 17 Ramp To Route 4 In Paramus Reopened After Box Truck Crash
A ramp at Routes 4 and 17 in Paramus was reopened shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday after a box truck tipped onto its side a few hours earlier. The driver climbed out after the leased truck crashed on the cloverleaf ramp from northbound Route 17 to westbound Route 4 around 7:30 a.m. June 8, responders at the scene said. Paramus EMS members took him to Hackensack University Medical Center with what they said were minor injuries. Borough police and firefighters were first at the scene of the crash near the flyover. One of three occupants in an SUV that slammed through a fence and into a wooded area off Route 17 early Monday afternoon was hospitalized, witnesses said. A Paramus police officer spotted the BMW X5 speeding but didn't pursue it, contrary to media reports, a source with direct knowledge of the incident said. A fugitive who'd just crashed a car off Route 17 shouted at pursuing Mahwah police to shoot him, then grabbed at an officer's gun and bit him while being handcuffed Thursday morning, authorities said. A 22-year-old driver escaped injury when his sedan ran off Route 17 and into the woods during a rainstorm, authorities said. The Bronx motorist was headed south when his Honda Civic slid off the road at the Hollywood Avenue exit in Ho-Ho-Kus shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, Police Capt. Greg McBain said.
