Upper Saddle River PD Dedicates Plaque To Career First Responder Who Died Young
Those who knew Bobby Hyman now have a permanent tribute that could also serve as a fitting introduction to a special public servant. Family members joined first responders at a dedication of the Robert J. Hyman Dispatch Center at Upper Saddle River police headquarters. Hyman was a Mahwah and Upper Saddle River firefighter, a youth sports coach in Mahwah and a USR police dispatcher for more than 25 years when he died in October 2019, leaving a wife and two sons. Hyman, 49, “was a dedicated public servant and a true friend to all his co-workers,” Upper Saddle River Police Chief Patrick Rote…

Recent reports of a deer roaming Upper Saddle River with a plastic pumpkin stuck to its head turned out to be true, said authorities who rescued the crippled creature on Tuesday. The driver was pulling out of the parking lot after making a delivery when the wires got snagged, Police Chief Patrick Rotella said. No injuries were reported, he said. Lines have either been pulled down or fallen on the highway several times since last fall. A utility pole that authorities said snapped on its o…

Chief Patrick Rotella called Osborne, who’s been a traffic officer the past five years, “an extremely dedicated and hard-working individual with an in-depth knowledge of the law enforcement profession. “His work in the field undoubtedly has helped to make our commun…

Guess How Many Tickets USR Police Wrote In Distracted Driver Crackdown
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. – This month’s annual distracted driver crackdown produced the results that Upper Saddle River police hoped for, along with some other benefits. Using stationary details and roving patrols, USR police wrote 224 tickets in three weeks (not a misprint), Police Chief Patrick Rotella said. During the same time period, officers also arrested 13 drivers who were either under the influence or carrying drugs, the chief said. With driver inattention contributing to crashes in New Jersey at a rate nine times higher than speed, the annual statewide “UDrive. UText. UPay.” Spri…
