Body Of Missing Man With Rockland Ties Found At Garden State Parkway Rest Stop: Sources
The body of a missing Rockland County native was found at a Garden State Parkway rest stop in Montvale, just south of the state border, on Tuesday, responders said. No foul play was suspected in the death of Brian Lenihan, they said. Lenihan, 43, who most recently lived in Wilmington, North Carolina, was reported last seen on Nov. 18 in New Jersey. UPDATE: A missing elderly couple took a long route to return to Bergen County, but they were found safe and sound Saturday morning, authorities said. Teaneck police responding to a call of a vehicle stuck in the mud behind the Teaneck Garden Club near Overpeck Park found Lea Asala, 89, outside their SUV and her husband, Anthony Asala, 91, inside around 9 a.m. Saturday. Dehydrated Family Stranded On Cliffs Above Hudson Uses Cellphones To Send Distress Signal
Responders rescued a family of lost, dehydrated hikers stranded in the dark 350 feet above the Hudson River. It was the fourth rescue in just two weeks from cliffs along the Palisades between the George Washington Bridge and the Rockland County border. The original call of a hiker falling more than 40 feet brought Palisades Interstate Parkway Police, along with firefighters from Piermont and Nyack, shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday. A now-former aide to New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer admitted using the U.S. House of Representatives seal to falsify letters written on the federal lawmaker’s letterhead. Missing Rockland Hikers Found, Firefighter Treated
A firefighter had to be treated for an undetermined injury after rescuers found four Rockland County hikers who’d become lost in the woods late Saturday night after crossing into New Jersey, responders said. One of the missing hikers was found near the Boy Scout camp in Alpine after they became lost in the Alpine-Rockleigh area, they said. Firefighters from Closter, Harrington Park, Old Tappan, Norwood and Northvale joined their colleagues from Orangetown in the search. The injured firefighter was taken to HUMC Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood.
