A multi-alarm fire ravaged a Waldwick home on Friday. A Midland Park man could consider himself fortunate after a vehicle fell on him while he was changing a tire, authorities said. A Midland Park police officer required hospital treatment after a disturbed man bit him and hit him with a metal laundry basket, authorities said. The officer and his colleagues were trying to speak with Richard Harris, 30, when he became violent, Police Chief Michael Powderley said. Authorities have identified the teen killed in this week's Midland Park house fire as a 16-year-old male resident. Alexander Lopez-Pena's body was found by responders on the first floor of the 222 Franklin Ave. home on Thursday, Feb. 2, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Violent Fugitive From Bergen County Captured
A violent fugitive being sought by state authorities forced some schools in northwest Bergen County to shelter in place during a manhunt that ended in his capture early Tuesday, authorities said.
